Location: Our Interstate 74 Project is made up of four sections. Section 1P, located in downtown Peoria, begins north of Monroe Street along I-74 continuing eastward across the Murray Baker Bridge at the Illinois River. Section 2P follows Interstate 74 (I-74) from west of Sterling Avenue to Nebraska Avenue. Section 3P starts in downtown Peoria beginning at Nebraska Avenue, and continues eastward to just north of Monroe Street along I-74. Finally, Section 4P travels along the existing corridor of I-74 beginning just west of the bridge over TP&W Railroad, extending easterly 2.5 kilometers (1.6 miles) to east of the Washington Street interchange in East Peoria. The entire project covers approximately 11.596 kilometers or 7.205 miles.

Description: Section 1P includes the construction of eastbound/westbound I-74, and ramps from just North of Monroe Street to the Murray Baker Bridge. This section incorporates construction of bridges, retaining walls, earthwork/grading, drainage, concrete curb/gutter, bituminous resurfacing and PCC pavement. Construction of a ramp tunnel and replacement of the north approach to the Murray Baker Bridge are also included.

Section 2P involves the reconstruction of I-74 (East Bound Lanes) from west of Sterling Avenue to Nebraska Avenue. Construction of interchange ramps at Sterling Avenue, and reconstruction of ramps at War Memorial Drive. Also construction of interchange ramps at Gale Avenue.

Section 3P includes the construction of eastbound and westbound I-74 and associated arterial streets from north of Nebraska Avenue to just north of Monroe Street. Also ramps which includes the construction of retaining walls, earthwork/grading, drainage, PCC pavement, Intelligent Transportation Systems, traffic signals, and removal and reconstruction of six bridges.

Section 4P consists of the reconstruction of the eastbound lanes of I-74. Improvements include bridge removal and replacement, earth excavation, pavement/ramp removal and replacement, storm sewer, permanent and temporary erosion control, retaining walls, traffic signals, signing and lighting.
